Museum of Soviet Calculators on the Web

Credits

This site would not exist, but for the generous contributions of the people listed on this page. Without their hard work, and willingness to share, the site would be a much lesser thing. Many of them have gone out of their way to provide images and information about the calculators in their possession. I hope you will take the time to visit their home pages, where listed, and drop a short note in their guest-books.

In no particular order, to these people (and more to come - I'm still working on this page!) I owe a debt of gratitude ...

Igor Sokalski

If you don't know about Igor, you haven't read The Ballad of Igor and Vlad (and shame on you). Igor was the prime source of the first calculators to reach me from Russia, and still a good friend and supplier of information and machines. One of the nicest, and most trustworthy, people I've ever met on the Internet. Igor has a fascinating job - visit and find out!

Kenton Green

In early 1997, I read a fascinating article by Kenton Green, titled "Red" Calculators. This article, about the known history of Soviet electronic calculators, prompted me to start my collection. Without a doubt, this site totally owes its existence to Kenton's amazing research and willingness to share information with us all. Kenton kindly allowed me to feature his article (updated) on this site, and it is the centerpiece around which the whole site revolves. Kenton and I still correspond whenever something new and exciting surfaces.

Sergei Frolov

Sergei left a short note in my guestbook recently, pointing out that there were some errors in the information on site. He turns out to be an absolute gold mine of information - as he is a collector of these machines himself. He has calculators, books, manuals, magazines, leaflets, ads - you name it! And more importantly, he's been most helpful in sharing this information with us all. Most of the recent additions to this site are due to his willingness to scan and type up the information in his possession. We owe him a lot!

Greg has been a wonder finding calculators for me! I really must find some information about him to put here. I know he likes Role Playing games and Adventures!
