Elektronika B3-14

B3-14B3-14 back

"B3-14. This one actually works withour problems on 3 AA batteries (and I tested all keys). There is also a power socket (where the AC/DC converter should be plugged), but I have no such converter and did not try to test this. Previous owner, apparently, hated AA's (those were not cheap back in 1981), so he welded two wires to the electrodes under the cover. When he wanted to use B3, he attached them to a "big" 4,5V battery. I know, because he actually demonstrated this as a "selling point"! Anyway, those wires are under the battery wire, they don't hinder AA's and, perhaps, can be easily removed. Anyway, I'd judge them even cooler than calculator itself! :)

The calculator itself seems to differ from the picture of B3-14M on the website. Though shape, indicator and all such distinctive things are the same, keyboard seems totally different. In fact, there are 21 keys (not 20, like on site; extra one is "%") and they are positioned differently, with single "C" in upper-right corner.

This one was made in November 1981 and cost 35SUR. "

The B3-16 may be a mistakenly identified B3-14. Certainly, it looks very similar!
