The operating instructions are molded into the back of the calculator, as in the Elektronika MK-23A of similar design. At the bottom "MADE IN USSR Electronorgtechnika Model 801" This calculator is very similar to models made by General Instruments of Canada (for example, General EZ2000 shown above). Possibly the USSR company purchased molds and equipment after General quit the calculator business. ![]() © 1997-2000 Timo Leipala ![]() © 1997-2000 Timo Leipala "Elorg 801 was very cheap at the end of seventies in Finland. It was sold at a gasoline station chain partially owned by Russians and many of them were bought by electronics enthusiasts. They did not use the calculator but its LED display was good and cheaper than LED displays bought separately.
Elorg 801 was sold from spring 1978 to spring 1984
at the Teboil service station chain in Finland, and its price was originally 30 FM and later 35 FM! (As you know the prices
of calculators usually went down very fast). Teboil later introduced also
Russian LCD calculators, Elorg 39 in 1981, Elorg 58 in 1982 and scientific
Elorg 38 in 1984. - Timo Leipala |
