The First Programmable Soviet Calculator!

Iskra 123

On the EKVM of family "Spark" depending on number of the registers and other devices is possible except for four arithmetic actions automatically or semiautomatically to make power function and extraction of square roots, and, for example, by the machine "Iskra-123" calculate function ex and natural values of trigonometrical functions sin a, cos a, tg a and th a and arcth a and to execute the various combined calculations.

Iskra 123

The Iskra 123 was the first Soviet electronic programmed calculator. This calculator is the next calculator 12x of a series of scientific calculators begun with Iskra 121 and Iskra 122. In addition to the calculator Iskra 122, in the calculator Iskra 123 there is an additional key of a taking of an absolute value of number and additional keys for the mode of programming.

The calculator works in two modes - mode of calculations and mode of program input. For storage of the program, 71 storage cells (memory locations) are used. Each keypress requires a single storage location. Each key has the opcode, which consists of two digits and is displayed in the left part of the indicator. The mode of programming in the calculator very simple. In the mode of programming numbers of storage locations are not displayed. The simple branching of the program is stipulated. For this purpose the key [|>] is used. The place of transition on branching is defined by pressing the key [T]. The [KP] key is used for transition to cell 00. For start of the program [START] key is used, for break - [STOP] key is used.

The including of the mode of programming allows the user to evaluate elementary functions and other combined calculations.

How to Calculate

Iskra 122, 123, 124: calculators have algebraic logic

(a + b) * c + d * e = [ ( ] a [+] b [ ) ] [X] c [+] d [X] e [=]
