Kerkhof receiver

Postby Roland Huisman » Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:32 am

Hello everyone,

My name is Roland Huisman, new on this forum.
I'm interested in early electronics. Pre war radio, early
TV but also "antique" computers.

Currently I'm building the Kerkhof receiver. ( There are also
two friend building the sets.) Mr Kerkhof was a Dutch TV
pioneer in the early days of TV. He has written a book about
how to make a 30 line TV. There are two options in the
book for the monitor. Mechanical and electronic.

At this moment the power supply and electronic monitor are ready.
You can see them at these links:

The power supply

The monitor

The shortwave receiver is almost ready. (You can see a preview
at the end of the monitor story) I'm only searching for some
eddystone coil holders. These seem to be hard to get. (picture)

Now I want to make a start with the mechanical version. Are the 30
line disks and Phonic rad made new these days?

If so, where can I buy these? I think a factory made disk is fare
more better than I can make by myself...

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Greetings, Roland

Hi Roland,

Welcome from another occasional visitor and thank you for posting news of your project here. The Google software translates its name as the "Cemetery" monitor, which sounds even more dignified and heavy than the name "Grosvenor" that I chose for my own unit (depicted HERE ). :D

What you have achieved really is wonderful. Your work is meticulous and accurate and reminiscent of the high standard achieved by the NBTVA member from Belgium, Denis Asseman, who is sadly no longer with us. Well done!

Steve and Karen, Thanks for the compliments!

I wonder if maybe you can tell me where I can get the Eddystone
socket and mechanical parts like 30 line disk and phonic rad?

Greetings, Roland
