Someone is building a Steampunk Mechanical TV

G'day all.

I have recently been looking at the creative novelty steampunk stuff people have been making and when I Googled steampunk TV I came across a steampunk mechanical television which is powered by steam instead of electricity (for the motor only I assume), the blog page on this TV can be viewed here:

It looks really cool and I hope the creator has finished it and got it operational.

Anyhow thought I'd share it with you all.

It would be possible to make an all mechanical TV, if you use glassfibre optics instead of the combination photocell/amplifier/LED (or neon-lamp). This system would not give much light, but as a work around you could use a mirrordrum or ~screw, and build it inside a small box just with an aperture, where one single spectator can watch TV. The advantage is, that any TV-set could also be uses as a camera, if you put a lense in that aperture. This TV-system would even be in full colour!
