New NBTV camera project

G'day all.
I am now keen on building a new NBTV camera, this time am going to do things properly and have studied the optics and am inspired by this Octagon shaped NBTV camera that has been built in France:

Anyhow I have stripped from a slide projector the lens system which has condenser lenses (see pic below), the dilemma though is the condenser lenses are not the same, one is domed like a hemisphere and the other is only slightly domed. I can see in with that French NBTV camera it too has condenser lenses system same as mine:

I still need some opinions from you guys if my two lenses are definitely okay for the task of condensing light to a small image pickup device like a photo diode or dome sensor? Also is it necessary to have that square glass piece between the two condenser lenses?
Anyhow I hope to get cracking on this project soon.
