Prof. Karolus, the 10,000 lamp man

I daresay we have all seen photos of Baird's 2,100 lamp display switched by that huge commutator.
Doing a bit of googling on this subject I came acoss a
german, Prof Karolus.

A search of this forum did not show Karolus so maybe many here are not familiar with this display which is 5 times the size of Baird's :shock:

Date is 1935. I cannot find how it was switched but valves are used.
100 channels, nine valves per channel.

Write up and a possible photo of the 2m x 2m screen attached.

So what's it to be for you? 80 transistors... or 900 valves ? :lol:

Hi Albert i was thinking i saw this picture before they must of had a few reporters over at the time.

Now also that is one big camera !
