News about Peter Yanczer

Postby roger63 » Fri Sep 20, 2013 5:19 pm

Hello Guys,
I recently got sad news about our friend Peter Yanczer's health. His daughter Kate told me that he is actually in a specialized hospital with a sort of alzeimer wich make him unable to remember things at time and so on. The sickness makes him unable to continue with his occupations at home (he cannot move without help) and definitely stop his activity on TV and the rest.. :(
Friendly your,
Roger

Sad news indeed, good luck Peter, our thoughts are with you.
Perfecting an NBTV system is like trying to slam a revolving door...

I met Peter twice in Paris when back from the NBTV convention . His last trip here has been painfull however, because Denis Asseman died suddenly in Loughborough when Peter was there. He was supposed to got to Denis'home at the end of the event.
When Peter come to Paris by then, I obviously found him deeply affected by this (and so was I).
Then, He and his wife went back to Us both sick.
I believe this has been a point He hardly recovered .

Just saw this on the Early Television Museum's Facebook page. So sad.

"Peter Yanczer, founder of the Experimental Television Society and expert on mechanical television, died on March 16 at the age of 86. He was a frequent visitor to the museum, and helped us research and restore several of our mechanical sets. He will be missed.
His website is preserved on our site. Take a look at it - it contains much interesting information on mechanical TV:

That is indeed really sad. I've met him a couple of years ago in Loughborough. After that we had some contact via e-mail, I've bought one of his excellent Nipkow-discs, and helped him to translate some German texts about one of his favorite items, the mirror-screw.

Sad. In Russia it is well known among the fans of old equipment. Translations of his articles were published in the us.

Very sad to hear of his passing he will be, I am a big fan of his great work in replicating mechanical TV systems, he will be greatly missed :(
