A good idea

A new production would be a great! Why not? Most plays have multiple productions if they are at all successful. It is now possible to make an unlimited number of takes and read of screens auto-cue style - it would not be that difficult. It would only need two actors, titles, a pause card and a scene card. Editing and conversion is easy enough.

It could be produced at a conference or a get-together.

I'd be all for a movie making get together lol. Too bad we all seem to be pretty far apart for most conferences.

We could even do the whole play. I saw it was longer than the video we already knows.

If you don't mind filming with modern cameras, it could be easier to make versions for all nbtv formats after it.

If a project like that is on the way i'd like to be co-director and/or editor. ( couldn't be on screen my accent would ruin the play  )

But like i said, a really good thing to do would be finding the original tape !
On the video it has the lines of the disc, it looks worse than it was, because if you put this on televisor, it makes lines over the lines and the quality is not at it's best.
With the tape, it could be transfered on computer, tape noise can be digitally removed, and the whole recording restorated properly.

I'm currently trying to clean the video and remove the VHS artefacts, but it won't be better than the original.

Then I reckon I should have the part of "The Customer" as the original actor (Lionel Millard) and I share the same last name! ;-) And I have a great face... for radio... :-(

Interestingly, it could be done by "correspondence" (so to speak) as only one person appears on screen at a time.

Montages can be done with the chroma-key system so both could appears at the same time too.

it depends of the chose we make at first :)

i had the idea a while back of approaching a local theatre group about writing and producing a short "visual radio show" based on recordings of some 1940s radio shows and the restored BBC recordings. i would use my camcorder in a similar configuration to that of the BBC's (no zoom, pan only etc). it would be far from authentic looking- being recorded in NTSC with American accents!

Maybe there are other things to do, are there old maerican tv programms of that time that we know about, but with no recording ? If so it could be interesting to do those too :P

I think, without seeing the original video/film, that it is impossible to say as to me it is quite illegible, however I would guess that it is the same as the text at the very beginning "Extracted and adapted by Lance Sieveking".

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to remaster the remaster, and make those titles again because they are quite difficult to read.
