Aren't we are stretching this 'NBTV transmission.......' thread a wee bit now.

But is it now a thread or, "a piece of string" as Guy de Maupassant might say?
( thank goodness for Wiki ! )

My cat wouldn't like Schrodinger, alive or dead, quantumly speaking.

Even Boys in the pre internet pre televison days needed some thing apart from a toy to keep them busy ....Now this might be the thing to get off quantum physics and back to vibrating strings not string theory mind you ...
I came across this Albert http://www.jitterbuzz.com/scikits.html#glas
The booklet is pdf down load in parts towards the bottom of the page nice experiments on sound ...the glass bowing caught my eye as well ...life was more interesting in some ways back then and dangerous fun just what a boy wants

The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.

Thanks for the link, Harry.
Amazing how much time some folk spend putting a web site together........
..........and how much time is needed to read it all !!

The girl is not holding the tin straight. That will probably loose lower frequencies.
If only todays kids got stuck into some of this instead of texting to each other.

The electric eye set might be useful for NBTV camera as a try out.

Did you see the electric metal casting kit? In the intro it said,
"This toy will cause most Concerned Moms to have an unexpected bowel movement."

Golly gosh.

Yes i did notice that too ! ...there would be a few laws these days from the fun police to stop selling this stuff for kids to use ....I wonder if they still sell chemistry sets ? i had one of those sure most of the stuff in it would kill you if you ate it ...most kids lived passed this toy like me and refrained from doing that
Yes these days kids just look at their little slab mini computers and play games ...looking at that site if your were interested in something back then there was a kit to learn with ...i would of liked a lot of that stuff ,,,,still do :D

A quick Google shows that chemistry sets still claim to be on sale - but whether they allow you to do anything interesting - after kitting up with gloves, safety goggles etc. - is another matter.

The KOWKOW tin machine will need to be used with both gloves and safety goggles ! :D

Gloves to prevent being cut on any jagged tin edge and goggles to prevent being hit in the eye
if the string breaks under too much tension and flies back into your face.

Yes some times a living a little dangerously shows your alive ! in my case running across the room from something thats broke loose at high speed it was a glass mirror ...since then i use plastic mirrors if i have to construct it !

You have me fascinated how you would go about this doing the air transmitting with SSTV i know your device would work here for sure so i think a wire would give the same result.
An idea may be a little bit cheating on your idea .... perhaps 2 crystal earphones with a very thin wire copper wire or even hair perhaps !!!! between the 2 glued to the center of the earphones one a transmitter other a receiver ?

You seem to be getting the KOWKOW tin machine bug, Harry. :)

Although going crystal gives a better chance it's getting away
from the purity of the genuine KOWKOW machine.
Crystal can be two way though, just like the kids toy.

Pulling the wire tighter in the original KOWKOW will lead to
attenuation of sound but better HF transmission.

You will not be able to pull if using a non KOWKOW crystal earpiece,
of course.
The true KOWKOW being a loudspeaker at one end and mic at t'other.

The transmission media (ain't we getting posh  ) , a stiff
wire with crystal, will not suffer any tension transmission attenuation,
as a stretched wire will.

Do you like the KOWKOW expression, " tension transmission attenuation, Harry? :)

I am very curious if it would work for NBTV never know .....

i would never have thought before i tried it hooking a solar cell to my lap top mic input and transmitting NBTV video via a led and getting a working image would work but it does .

Although going crystal gives a better chance it's getting away
from the purity of the genuine KOWKOW machine.

Just an idea what ever you do i would do a frequency sweep test on it ,i am thinking it would be very touchy on the wire string tension...

You need some thing either end to make and receive the vibrations ..could go passive or active device here but also need to turn the signals back to electrical signal ..so stuck with active .....

If you are going traditional tin can may a membrane like a balloon rubber stretched over the end might help .

Pulling the wire tighter in the original KOWKOW will lead to
attenuation of sound but better HF transmission.

Need to test this idea Albert need to do some science again a Sweep test will show if this is so !

You will not be able to pull if using a non KOWKOW crystal earpiece,
of course.

If a speaker is used a tweeter has a range of 2,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz thats a nice band width i would think some amplification would be needed.
A good mic can do 20hz to again 20khz ..

Problem how to you stop it pick up the air transmitting and receiving ...perhaps enclose them in a sound proofing container ?

mmmmm may be so !

Yes i do Albert ! I have always said i like your device naming you are good at it indeed !

BTW on the Gilbert kits ...i was watching the Americam Pawn Stars show and a lady was selling the
Chemistry set it was dangerous ! heres the link to the you tube video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUDv6EaYciU
Also BTW i have a PM to you perhaps your inbox is full ,,,happens to me all the time
