While at the early television gathering measurements last weekend, i had the idea of constructing a new 3d scanner, because the one i already had has failed. I was pondering up some ideas, and googled to see if anybody else had the same idea as me. And a lot of people did. The idea: Creating a digital part file with a projector to act as a flying spot of light, and a camera to pick up the light, and process the light into a digital part. A scanner of this type would be relatively simple to build, needing only a turntable, a camera, a projector, and a computer to control the projector and convert the picked up light from the camera into a part file.
