Optics for NBTV

Postby Telehor » Wed Dec 05, 2007 12:36 am

 Hi,
i am not familiar with optical data , measurements and nomenclature.
For the Octagon replica i need to magnify the small image 18 x 14 mm. Some test have been made and a drawing of the test setup is in fig 2.To observe at a distance of opprox. 30 cm i installed a magnifier glass of 12.5 cm(5") at the view opening of the cabinet. Between that lens and the image i installed a lens of 63 mm diameter. By printing the fig 3 on a transparent slide sheet i have a test card at 1/1 size and frames of different ratios..By holding a selected frame, that fits to  the image, i had a "magnifying" of 2.5. See my web pages http://users.skynet.be/telehor/octagon.htmI
Thanks for your advices
Denis

Hi Denis,

The attached covers all that I think you would ever need to know about light and Infra-Red, it's a bit 'mathematical' in places, but I would think more than enough for what we need. Just filter out the applicable bits.

Here's a link that covers much the same matter but in a much 'dryer' format:-

I got this as a result of your link by the way....

Changing the last letter to a lower-case 'L' made no difference, nor omitting it entirely.

P.S. I did eventually get it to open using the following link..
