Television is 80 years old

January 26, 2006 marks the eightieth anniversary of a gathering of 40 eminent scientists assembled in a narrow street in London's Soho district. They had been invited by John Logie Baird to attend the first demonstration of a new invention, television.

I have written a more detailed article on 80 years of television in the Scottish magazine Folio which is on the web, click here for details. A more detailed report of the British Sky event is to be found on the website http://www.bairdtelevision.com.
