I'll try without the damping resistors/caps. Maybe also I'll try dropping the voltage to the motor with a 7812 or LM317.

Cartainly should be an interesting project trying to figure out what works best.

My motor is from inkjet, the one moving the heads. It gets about 15V and stays warm.
