The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.

As a straight transliteration from the Cyrillic, it reads:

Lyubitelski televisor

1936 g. (year)

(complect detaley -

Leningradski zavod im.

Kazitskovo; sborka - slobodskovo

radiolyubetelya

A.P. Belosludtseva)

If no one beats me to it, I'll get out my Russian/English dictionary and have a go at translating it.

As far as I can make out, it's something along the lines of:

Amateur televisor B-2, 1936

complete details - made in the Leningrad* factory;

from the collection of radio amateur A.P. Belosludtseva.

*St. Petersburg these days!

Actually, the Soviets embraced mechanical television pretty wholeheartedly. I believe they were also the last country to give it up.. sometime in the late 30s, iirc.

The last country who gave up mechanical TV were the Netherlands: 01. September 1939. They were using the Baird 30 line system.
