Here's a link where you can download probably the most authoritative publication of electronics over the past century...though in latter years it 'lost the plot'...a new editor who wanted no articles that had any math!...excuse me?!? Possibly that led to its demise...electronics simply does involve maths, like it or lump it, it's a sub-set of physics...and to a degree chemistry...

Germanium, silicon, carbon, where would we be without those three fundamental elements? If you haven't reviewed the Atomic Table since school days, I suggest you do now...
