Photos and film of the NBTVA convention 2010:

I took some photos at the convention in Loughborough, more of the machines than of the people: http://www.retrocom.de/nbtva2010/index.html

I also made two small videos with my photo-camera, so the quality is not that good. On the first video you can see an LED picture drum. It is using a stripe with LEDs in a row which you can buy per meter as a decoration for your car, disco, PC or whatever. Or to build your own televisor.
The second video is taken from a 32 line CRT monitor, but the more interesting thing is the camera: A mirrordrum scanner had been used, as you can see with a very good success. In that twilight in the room the mirror-drum worked obviously better than my modern 6 megapixel digital camera.

As the upload here didn't work, I've used Youtube:

Thanks for posting these - it is very much appreciated by those of us who are unlikely to ever be able to attend a convention because of the tyranny of distance.

BTW are the photos on http://www.retrocom.de/nbtva2010/index.html
meant to be clickable to enlarge?

Yes I think so Gary, but it doesn't work with me either.

So what is wrong Volker?

Well, they are supposed to become bigger. Something went wrong with the upload. As I changed my computer and the operating system in the meantime, it will take some time to fix it, I have to fix the website by hand. ...as long as I don't find the backup...

Thank you so much DrZarkow for the pictures&videos! Very interesting!
Is the mirror drum camera a "flying spot" device with internal light source? Or it uses external light? Do you have any larger images of the camera arrangement?

The mirror drum camera is a flying spot camera. Even with the dimmed daylight in the roomt the picture were remarkable. Unfortunally that were all pictures I took, but more people took photos, I hope we will see some of them in the newsletter with some good descriptions. Jeremy spoke of course with everyone.

Update: I've just found the originals, including some not pictures not yet published, so a good photo of the flying spot camera:

Why "even"? Flying spot does not need ANY external light. Did you mean that small amount of ambient light had no much interference with the machine's light beam?
Many thanks for the image!

That's what I've meant: The light from the outside did not cause any disturbing interference.

Oh, sorry! Yes, I found the files, and I've fixed them! It should work now. I even found the originals in a better resolution, so I can make a new gallery, when I find the time...
