For those who wondered exactly how much the BBC audiences around 1930 could see of dancers in long-shot, this should give some idea. An extract from the only musical film ever directed by Cecil B DeMille, featuring the ill-fated Lillian Roth, whose battle with the bottle was documented in a Susan Hayward film many years later.

Enjoy!

Chris Long VK3AML (there is a little high-frequency ringing at the bottom edge of the picture - unavoidable without a lot of extra work, I'm afraid.)

Thanks

Thank you for uploading this. It looks great on my Televisor. It is stable from beginning to end and is fun to watch.

Where did you get the original film from?

Chris abandoned this forum several years ago. You will have to contact him privately to answer this question.

I am pretty sure that the song is "Low down" from the movie "Madam Satan".

You may find it somewhere on the web, but, as a radio and movie Historian, Chris has access to archives not generally available.

In this case it was much easier to find: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWVojP9G ... 2AC42CE0F9

There always two most obvious sources for old movies: Youtube and www.archive.org.
