Today i worked on the base for the work area ,just need some scrap MDF to fit in the work space ...other wise the wood will be cut to bits every time you do some thing.

So coming together a lot quicker than last years work .

I am still thinking about a control panel for it i do have something case wise for this sort of thing ....... its going to have to evolve but the good thing it makes it workable in stages instead of all or nothing as in most cnc projects .

I will work on the mounting of the high speed drill next weekend.

The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.

Oh good i tend to talk to Gary about it but he is busy with life stuff so good to have another CNC person to chat about it .

As you see i am doing it on the cheap so just using what i can find and seeing how it gos .

I am going to try Tom McGuires controller i have just about finished it i am tossing up if you know the circuit to use the light globes or try some small rheostats i have .

The Software so far i have only had luck with mach 2 couldn't work out the correct settings for mach 3 but i can now copy what number 2 is set at and see if that gets 3 going ,just couldn't get it to work with the printer port .

I have leds on the printer port to see the software working before i get these steppers going ...i knew if nothing comes out there theres no point hooking the steppers up yet...thanks to mach 2 software i can go another step forward .

BTW welcome to the forum :)

5 axis made a small furnace to melt aluminum to cast a framework.

I didn't see the frame Monoroe but the furnace now thats what i call recycling! I saw a guy on you tube did this trying to melt and cast drink cans as i recall he used a hair drier to blow more oxygen into hes furnace was that you ? that seemed to be the key that made it work so getting the right temperature to melt the aluminium.

One of those cnc kits would make life easier for sure i think i am going to have to make mine the hard way an exercise in trial and error.

Sounds like you have a 3d version now that would come in handy for NBTV i could come up with a few things to make with that ..i will have to be happy for now doing it on the flat and perhaps building up layers instead..but thats for the future and making it work then i might be able to make a Nipkow for a start

I mounted the router today i was going with an smaller dremel tool but i had one of those situations thats not a tool thats a tool.

Today i am working on getting the controller working with the stepper motors and software .

So far X and Y seem to work fine with the stepper motors i have not tried z yet .

I don't know fully what i am doing with the software yet i have got mach 2 to work the best for me ,used its settings to get kcam going have not worked out how to run the loaded g code just manual control so far need to do a lot more reading

I am very glad i put in the leds its it so much easier to see the software and hardware are working .

Because i am experimenting with a different CNC idea due to having to use 3 wire single phase AC motors for now , i have been thinking how to hook these up to my control board .
Working it out i can control direction speed and or motor on or off.
The problem is stopping which steppers are good at these are not ...thinking of this problem either using a solenoid brake on motor shaft on the stop signal or using the small steppers are brakes working along side the AC motors .

Mighty be a crazy idea just see how one direction on the x or y go see if it works well enough worth a shot .
