Homemade phonograph/phonautograph project

Postby OmegaProductions » Sun Jul 01, 2018 5:32 am

Hello guys!! This is Dylan here! :D
And today, (well...a month ago) I have recently done a phonautograph project, which was sort-off successful, and it is completely made with KNEX. So I hope you enjoyed this post!! :D :)

Dylan,
thank you for the nice video that you made. I understand why it didn't work, but I am not going tot tell you. You have to find out it yourself.

Before you do these types of experiments, first THINK and do more simple experiments. That could be:
- speak (shout) into the plastic cup and feel gently with your fingers where it moves or trembles.
- Then place the pin, do the same experiment and try to feel in which direction the point trembles.
- Then try to make a set-up where the movements are recorded onto your sheet.
- I fear that in your set-up the movements are not visible in the line that you write.
- Try to understand why this is the case,
- and then try to think of an optimal set-up, where you can SEE the recorded movements,
- use a magnifying glass to look carefully to what you have made.

- After that you can think how to replay your recording.

Good luck.! Be clever, and think, think, think. That is also what Thomas Alva Edison did.

Hi Dylan check your forum mail !
Great project keep at it ...
The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.
