Messy Workshops...

Postby Steve Anderson » Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:54 pm

As a bit of frivolous fun, who's got the messiest workshop? Here's mine as of this morning as I was firing up the 1" CRT. I know Albert and Dominic can beat the pants off this...any other contenders?

No prizes, just the honour.

oh if only I was at home....

mine is a thousand times worse than that.

all the components are in tubs balanced on top of the big boxes the OO guage railway is packed away in, and the soldering area is where all the clutter and dirt is swept aside on a table stuck in the corner of the room.

to get to it you have to avoid the obstacle course of old toy boxes, and the DEC PDP-11 micro that is stood in the middle of the floor...

that's not my workshop of course, that's just where I actually build things.

the "workshop" is an old coal room off the garage that is piled floor to ceiling with boxes and never gets around to being plastered and having mains sockets put in :(

Perhaps that should be 'better' depending on your viewpoint.

O my o my, what a tidy workshop you have there, Steve.
I will not show mine as it will put you right off working on the 'Brute!'

My workshop makes a landfill site look like the Banqueting Hall at
Buckingham Palace.

Thus far you deserve it, but the photo could have been somewhat bigger so we could admire it in all its festering glory...

Cripes! I think you've killed this thread off, no-one is going to attempt to compete with that! I shudder to think what might be lurking in the corners. Gomez and Mortisha Addams could be in there somewhere. It makes mine look like an operating theatre.

No prizes remember, just the honour which it's a fair bet it's gonna be yours!

My photo was taken yesterday after I had tidied up.

In 1947 I worked for old toolmaker with overhead belting to just an old lathe/shaper/drill.
He had no surface/cylindrical grinders and made all the jigs and tools for the production lines by hand.
His workshop was as bad as mine and I like to keep mine that way as it brings back the old atmosphere of where I cut the mustard. He tought me more in one year about toolmaking than I care to remember.
Thems were the days!

I have to say I'm jealous of Albert, wish I had all that space...here's a picture of my outer workshop, and the floor beneath my workbench (only swept it a month ago!). The dust is actually all the fag ends of solder from my solder sucker, been doing a lot of recycling recently - I should save it all up and weigh it in!

Glad I took the picture there's a resistor there!

A valiant effort there Dom but at this stage Albert's in the lead unless some outsider comes up from behind.

A 4k7 if I'm not mistaken,

Not at all bad there Dom. I do so much envy you the kitcen sink. That's one thing mine is missing.
So I think you should be awarded
'The Sink' prize in recognition of workshop originality.
