Giant 80 lines Nipkow disc

Postby DrZarkov » Tue Mar 30, 2010 6:44 am

Is anybody interested in a giant 80 lines Nipkow-disc? It is made of thin steel, laser cutted, of high quality. The picture is quite big for 80 lines, as this disc has a diameter of about 1 Meter! Of course there are sync-holes, too. If anybody is interested, I can bring it to the convention in Loughborrough next weekend.

I know big TVs are popular today, but this is something extra extraordinarily!
I wonder, how come someone have a surplus one-meter nipkow disk in their junk box?

A friend of mine, working in a company with CNC machines, programmed that machine wrong, so the disc got a little bit out of size. Something with inch and centimeters I think
Luckily he or me had no costs for it.

1 meter! That's great!
If I was able to get to the convention I would snap that up. I can only imagine the postage cost to Australia!

I seem to remember that NASA once had a similar problem - with rather more disastrous results... the loss of a multi-million dollar Mars lander.

Shipping to Australia would be 57,10 EUR, via TNT the Netherlands. Maybe it's even cheaper, it is possible that the parcel will be under 5 kg, than it would be around 35 EUR. But no time to test it by now, we will leave to France tomorrow afternoon. If somebody who will come to the convention wants to have it and there is no answer until tomorrow 12 o'clock: I will give it away to club members just for the costs of shipping.

O.k., but you will have to waitfor at least a week as I'm still in the UK until next Friday. BTW: The convention was smaller than usual, but nevertheless great! :-)

1st convention I've been to. Bought a couple of bits to set me on the road to building my own televisor. Going to have to commandeer space in my sons room to build it!

Great thanks,
I can't believe no one took you up on that disc!
A week is fine it'll give me some time to get the cash for postage together. How will I get the postage cash to you? Do you use Paypal?
