That's a very good price - I wouldn't like my chances of getting it through Australian customs though :shock:

It wasn't sold. It would have made an interesting item for any TV/scientific
collection or museum.

Interesting that the ad implies it works at a potential gradient of 2Kv/mm. I think I heard somewhere (this could be wrong) that air breaks down at 3Kv/mm so nitrobenzene must be a good insulator.

I only dared to go up to a 'mere' 1Kv across the vanes of my immersed 'Kerr Cell' tuning capacitor. It didn't do anything.
