school project

Postby daantje3 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 12:14 am

Hello everybody,

me and a friend of mine are in the final year of high school and we needed to do a final project. We decided to make a baird televisor, but we are really worried about the nipkow disc. We made a wooden nipkow disc of 12 inches and tried to make it as round as possible. We hope that this disc will work, because we used the electronics from your guide. If this disc doesnt work, does anybody have any idea where we can get a 12 inch nipkow disc and how much it costs?

I was going to suggest that joining the NBTVA at £15 per year (non UK) is probably the cheapest way to acquire a 12" nipkow disc, but I notice from my latest newsletter that it is currently out-of-stock, though 15" ones are available from £20.

If you want to keep it simple and cheap (as you wrote it is for a school project), take this PDF-file, print it out and make your disk of plastic or black cardboard.

Waar (ongeveer) in NL wonen jullie? Volker woont in Moers bij Venlo en spreekt ook goed Nederlands.

Klaas, please remember that your post above is not intelligible to those of us who don't speak Dutch.

I know Dave, but this was meant for Daan, a Dutch youngster.

If I had to translate my message into English (or something that looks alike) and poste that on the forum, then Daan has to translate it back into Dutch. I know how much is lost in those two translation actions. Sometimes you even don't recognise the original.

If you want to experience that, do a computer translation from English to Dutch and than translate it back......... At least rubbish out.

So to avoid those problems I wrote in Dutch to Daan. Easier for him, easier for me, no translation errors.

However..... how about learning a few words of Dutch? Volker, living in Germany, also did that. Why should others alway conform themselves to the English language?

Next to that I bet that you can read to 50% of my Dutch posting if you use your creativity. So if you really want to know..... And for the remaining 50% there are dictionaries. And if paper is too difficult, type www.tecdic.com, type the word, hit 'Enter' and choose from the offered alternatives. Works also in reverse, in case you want to write a posting in Dutch.......

Must admit i wanted to know what you said Klaas so i copied and pasted to a` dutch to english translator .

I can understand the English only thing being annoying to you .

If the translator failed my mother in law is dutch so theres always a way!
The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.
