Playing Tetris on a mechanical teleivision

Postby smeezekitty » Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:50 am

Just having a little fun. I wrote an implementation of Tetris which outputs NBTV to the sound card so I can play it on my mechanical monitor

Looks great! I've tried some years ago a Tetris version for the Philips CDi console from the 1990s through an Aurora converter on my mechanical TV. It also works good, of course in black and white only. What hardware are you using for the game?

Looks Great first mechanical tv video game ever ?
The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.

Thank you! No real special hardware. It is just connected to a sound card and I wrote a custom implementation of Tetris that outputs NBTV directly. Software does all the heavy lifting

The first one designed for mechanical TV? Maybe. The first one shown on mechanical TV? Nah

It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear if there was a patent from John L. Baird from 1928 describing an "Electric Tennis for Two" for the 30 lines Televisor. :D
