Nipkov disk from club?

Postby newcarl » Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:18 am

I am sorry for bluntly getting to this before perhaps exploring the site well. I have interest in purchasing a pre-fabricated Nipkov disk since I am not confident in my own fabrication precision. The site suggests the club may have them for sale, but for members. It also says to check the latest newsletter for "availability". I have just joined the NBTVA to gain access to the member parts/disks and to review the newsletter for information on disk availability. I find nothing useful. Are there disks available out there somewhere for members or not?

What are you looking for?

- Just a bare Nipkow disk, where you have to construct your own motor on, and your own light source and all the electronics to have it modulated? The club should have it for you. Send an e-mail to Chris at NBTV.org and ask him about. He will know what is still in stock.

- Or do you want a complete Nipkow disc monitor, ready to run? Then look for the MUTR televisor at https://mindsetsonline.co.uk/shop/televisor/. It has a plastic Nipkow disc, motor and everything, ready to run from batteries or a 6V power adapter. But then you will not have the marvellous feeling of having made something yourself.

It is indeed very difficult to make the disc yourself, it needs extreme precision in the positioning of the small holes. However also an imperfect disc gives you a picture. The imperfection drives you to make a better disc and that makes you a better constructor.

Good luck..... you will need it.

Chris I removed your chris @ nbtv.org link at 2019-04-16.
Do you like me to reconstruct the forwarding? To that other address?

Dear Chris, I asked to change it and with the effectuated change it should work to your hotmail.com address. I expect that within one or two days it is working again.
