This is Mr. Baird's British Patent for his electronic line interlacing system for cathode ray scanning devices. Note that it works with scanning systems with even numbers of lines as well as odd numbers of lines, unlike conventional scanning systems. Also note that it can interlace any number of fields equally well by displacing scanning lines multiple lines, not just a whole line. The described embodiment shows three interlaced fields. It can also provide overlapping successive progressive scan frames by displacing scanning lines by a fraction of a line rather than whole or multiple lines.
