Laser- cut drum monitor

Postby acl » Tue Apr 25, 2023 11:34 pm

Following a successful convention several members have shown an interest in building a drum monitor using laser-cut pieces rather than having to spend time individually cutting material. Anybody with ideas feel to add to post. Although it is in it's infancy we envisage using Vic Browns club designed drum strip and a laser cut disc to support it along with pieces for the frame and motor housing.

Beautiful work i suppose the drum would be layered from laser cut panels ,i would not glue the mirrors after it will only throw them off. if you could make it so the mirrors fit in a little angled slot so you just had to hold them in by a little bolt and or washer either side t__t that would be something to think of for easy mounting .
Any case interesting to see what comes of it i have tried clothes peg and staggered mirrors not angled and stripped mirror 2 mirror drum H V idea so hard to get any mirror monitor drum idea true and not throw off and line up the beam line by line and align the lines .
Sticking with a classic idea with a modern construction do post up the results Chris
The electromagnetic spectrum has no theoretical limit at either end. If all the mass/energy in the Universe is considered a 'limit', then that would be the only real theoretical limit to the maximum frequency attainable.

Laser- cut drum monitor

Postby acl » Mon May 08, 2023 1:26 am

Hi there Harry,

Several people have tried making a mirror drum monitor with varying success. This however is a normal drum monitor. The synch and spiral of video holes are laser cut into the strip wrapped around a drum. Thanks for your kind comments. Jim has introduced me to the world of laser cutting parts which means I can throw away all my woodworking tools.
