My newsletter on paper arrived yesterday morning, too. This time the post to Germany was really fast. And it was again a very interesting lecture!

I've just received my pdf copy of the Newsletter Vol. 40 No, 2. But I seem to be missing Vol. 40. No. 1. All previous issues are present and correct. Can anyone confirm or otherwise there was a Vol. 40. No. 1? Either printed or in pdf form?

No Volume 40.1 here either.

Hmm, we'll leave it a few days unless someone can confirm there was a printed version of 40.1 sooner. If so I'll send an e-mail to Chris Lewis to point out that Gary and I (at least) didn't receive 40.1 as a pdf.

I "think" I had a paper version of Newsletter 40 / 1, but I can't confirm it surely, as we aren't at home this weekend.

Yup, 40.1 is still on top of the pile of detritus on my desk. :)

Well how odd, usually there is *something* posted about a newsletter on this thread which gives a "heads up" to those who have missed out. If Steve hadn't mentioned it I would likely not even realised 40.1 was missing. It's a shame the NBTVA stopped updating the official web site.

I received 39.4 on 31/7/15, and 40.2 on 12/12/15 and nothing in between.

EDIT: It might be an idea if people could start posting here that they are aware of a new newsletter out - the more people acknowledging it the less likely the chance of a group of people missing out for any significant length of time. Maybe this thread could be pinned or something to make it easier.

In that case I'll zap off an e-mail to Chris and provide updates/responses here. I wonder how many others also didn't receive their pdf copy of 40.1?

I'll look into pinning this thread, it's not obvious how to do it, but it's somewhere. Done, called a 'Sticky' in this software.

Steve A.

E-mail to Chris sent, response will depend on how often he checks his account...and for Gary and I - the time difference.

Thanks Steve.

The other good thing about the electronic form of the newsletter is that it shouldn't take long to correct omissions like this (once they've been discovered) whereas with the paper version it will take 2-5 weeks for it to be resent and received.

I don't know why but I have been very unlucky with newsletters going astray or delayed.

Yes, I have 40-1, but the paper version of 40-2 hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully, it's working its way through amongst all those Christmas cards.

Here's the front page, so you know what to look out for:

Thanks for that Dave, it eliminates the only nagging doubt I had that I had received it and somehow misplaced it - I would definitely have remembered those intriguing content titles.

Chris forwarded on the e-mail I sent to Jeremy who in turn has sent the complete Vol. 40. No. 1. to me. Gary, I did mention you too had not received a copy so all being well you may well already have it. If not I'll PM it to you...I know perhaps I shouldn't, but it saves hassling Jeremy.

I have just received it also Steve - thanks for that.

I hope they can determine the source of the problem - if it turns out they DID send it we may have to contact our ISPs - I know from experience that, under certain circumstances, my ISP will refuse emails - although this should result in an "undeliverable" notification back to the sender.

I also have a problem with my spam filter at my ISP - they upgraded the system a year ago and broke the spam notification mechanism - they won't fix it unless I a) get on the blower to them (= $cost to me) or I give them my password (not bloody likely).

Good, that's that then.

If anyone else hasn't received any copy of the newsletter, printed or a pdf, Jeremy appears to be the best point of contact. His e-mail address is in the 'e-mail' section of the NBTVA homepage...
