Yep, we're still kicking around too and it's already the 22nd...as it is in the UK, though early morning there.

How's the LED assembly coming on? As I mentioned, with all that solder it must be gaining quite a bit of weight, and these days there isn't (shouldn't be) and Lead in it.

I am using lead/tin solder so the weight is getting weighty.
33 rows now completed so the end is nigh. The 1/3 position (16 rows done) was worst as I knew then what the tedium of doing it was like and had twice that amount to finish it.
Now that I am in the last stretch the tedium seems less tedious.

Yep, me too on the Windoze machine, can't see any reason to...erm...'upgrade'. It's only used for applications written exclusively for Windoze like the circuit simulator I use. Otherwise I could get rid of it and free up some desk space.

The Re-Boot was more in reference to the world re-starting. If the world did end a day or so ago this must be heaven/paradise/whatever you want to call it. It looks uncannily like the world we left behind!

I seem to remember the late great Douglas Adams writing* that if anyone worked out exactly what the universe was about, it would be replaced by something even more inexplicable - and that some say this has already happened!

I wonder...how much does it weigh...as per the photos?

Mockers...mother must have picked this up when we were in Oz...

Clearly the derivation of this phrase is determined by what mockers means. Put all thoughts of mocha coffee out of your mind - the weight of evidence is that it mockers an early 20th century Australian slang term meaning jinx or bad luck. The word is variously spelled - in virtually any combination of letters that sounds like mockers - mochas, moccas, mockas, mokkas, mokkers. The phrase appears to derive from an earlier Australian variant put a mock on, and if that's the case then mockers would be the correct spelling. There are also suggestions that mocker may have either Yiddish or Romany origins. Whilst the word sounds right for either of those languages, the documentary evidence points to an Australian origin.

Steve, the weight is 2lbs exactly.
Gary, In the New Year, but which one?
I am not hurrying, as I did this towards the end of the LED soldering and soldered 2 back to front.
So, "More haste, less speed," and I shall be watching the mockers.

Going to build in two free running oscillators, (one 7556), both pot adjusted over a large range first and run those to get running non modulated scans.

Then throw a BIG switch to cut in the NBTV video and its sync signal..........then I shall probably run too :shock:

Niptrix now in its wall mounted antique frame but ccts not complete nor matrix wired up.....the closer I get to switching it all on the slower I am going, looking for excuses to stop work on it until the next day, or the day after preferably
