Televisor with Toothed Wheel Project

Postby Lawnboy » Tue Jan 01, 2019 11:18 am

I'm looking into building yet another Televisor, with this one to be a replica close to the original Plessey model while still being able to handle modern formats with a sync pulse. This will require some modification of the toothed wheel sync system. Here is what I am thinking. Rather than having the electromagnets for the toothed wheel physically rotate around the motor case for framing, the electromagnets will be fixed in place and the sync pulse (separated from the video) will be delayed by a circuit similar to Peter Smith's crystal lock sync shifter circuit in Vol 32 No.4, then run through an audio amplifier. Is it possible to feed the coils by just amplifying the sync pulse in this way? I've also read Peter Smith's analysis of the Baird sync system in Vol 38 No 1 and I'm not sure if this would be the best way to do it. I do intend to have both a 30 and 32 line disc and toothed wheel made for this machine as well.
