NBTVA 2022 UK CONVENTION
Saturday August 20th
from 10.00 am at Plumptre Hall, Church Street, Eastwood, Nottingham NG16 3BP
Dear Member,
This email is to give you advance notice of our Convention (the notice and details will also appear in our forthcoming Newsletter, Vol 45 No 1, which will be out soon). The Convention is later than its usual April date, but the commonness of Covid infection early in 2022 made planning an indoor event unwise at that time.
We appreciate that late date may make it hard for some to attend. If you can't come, but would have brought something to show, do consider emailing photos and descriptions, which can be shown and discussed during the day. Any recordings and video clips are also very welcome.
Best wishes
Jeremy Jago, Chairman & Editor
David Gentle, Treasurer and Membership Sec.
By motorway M1 from the South: Approx 4.5 miles from Junction 26
Exit the M1 at Junction 26. Take the A610 towards Eastwood and Heanor (NOT Nottingham). Once on the A610, ignore the first exit to Eastwood and Ikea store, ignoring also the second exit to Birnham Sports Ground. After a further 2 miles, staying in the lefthand lane, take the exit onto the A608 to Eastwood (Derby Road). Follow this for about 1/3rd mile into town centre. Church Street is actually on your right, but because of the one-way system you have to go left, then right and right again, at traffic lights, and then go straight across into Church Street. In 175 yards (160 m), immediately before St Mary Church, turn left at the small sign for Plumptre Hall (narrow entrance).
By motorway M1 from the North: Approx 4 miles from Junction 27
Exit the M1 at Junction 27 and take the A608 to Eastwood. You’ll pass through Underwood and Brinsley. In Eastwood town centre you’ll come to a traffic light junction where A608 goes right. Nottingham Road is on your left and Church Street straight on. Having taken Church Street - in 175 yards (160 m), immediately before St Mary Church, turn left at the small sign for Plumptre Hall (narrow entrance).
By rail and bus: arriving at Nottingham Station, take the NET (Nottingham Express Transit) tram to Phoenix Park, from which take the Rainbow 1 bus (R1 Trent Barton - 'Zigzag' ticket recommended) to Eastwood. One of the Rainbow 1 stops is at Eastwood Morrison's store, which is very close to Church Street.
Enlarged street map – Church Street is off one way system
Convention arrangements:
Do bring along a guest if you can. Bringing packed lunch makes best use of available time – but we can direct anyone to nearby pubs and shops serving lunch. Partners and family might also be interested in the D.H. Lawrence Museum nearby.
